Funded by the Green and Inclusive Community Buildings Program (GICB), a replacement of the HVAC system in the Snuneymuxw Daycare, aimed to improve the air quality, environmental impact, and operating costs of the facility. This project served to benefit Snuneymuxw children and families located in the centre of Coast Salish territory on the eastern coast of Vancouver Island.

Through this upgrade project, the building has improved air quality, and energy conservation, reduced environmental impacts and enhanced climate resilience. Also, reducing the risk of transmission of COVID-19 and other viruses by improving air filtration quality and improving where community members gather, enhancing health, safety, and comfort. Other benefits include improved service delivery and community utilization of the daycare, and lowered maintenance costs.
