Snuneymuxw First Nation has been in consultation with Stuart Olsen (construction services company) and the BC government regarding the Nanaimo Correctional Centre redevelopment Project. Learn more in the attached PDF below.
We are supporting the design, construction, and future operations of the new NCC. There are several opportunities for community involvement:
- Employment opportunities
Employment Opportunities include 650 direct jobs and 275 indirect jobs during the construction phase. Including but not limited to all types and fields of skilled trades, equipment operators, safety personnel, and skilled labourers.
- Subcontract / Joint Venture Opportunities
Stuart Olson is also seeking to engage subcontractors and joint ventures from the community. As the project requires many different materials and trades, if any businesses, contractors, or service providers would like to discuss engagement, please reach out.
- Artwork
Artwork opportunities are being defined as part of ongoing workshops. Once defined, requests will be opened to artists for submissions and creation.
