Whopping $23M announced for RDN projects
Union of B.C. Municipalities officials call it one of the largest-ever transfers of federal gas tax funds to a municipality in the province. Eight infrastructure projects in the Nanaimo region will be boosted by a transfer of nearly $23 million from gas tax coffers, local leaders said in the Regional District of Nanaimo board room on Wednesday morning.
Topping the list was a staggering $16.6 million to help pay for a new water treatment plant to service residents in Nanaimo, the Snuneymuxw First Nation and parts of the rural region of Extension.
