Nov. 30/17

After 20 years of dreaming, hosting community meetings and planning, Snuneymuxw is breaking ground to construct a multi-million dollar health centre in the Cedar Area of Nanaimo, BC.

Development of an 8,400 square foot health and wellness building is set to start this month and to be completed by December 2018. It’s Snuneymuxw’s dream to provide better health & wellness services to their community members and it is also their hopes to serve the Nanaimo general population at the same time.

Snuneymuxw Ground Breaking Ceremony took place on Wednesday, November 29th, 2017.
At the corner of Long House Rd. (Chartwell Rd.) and MacMillan Rd., Nanaimo, BC

A number of Snuneymuxw elders, representatives of Snuneymuxw Chief & Council as well as special guests were present.

Some of the special guests included: Sandra Good, David Nairne & Associates, Built Contracting, First Nations Health Authority, Nanaimo Division of Family Practice, Dr. Kristy Williams and Dr. Poteryko.
