Youth Worker – 3 Positions
Part-time (5-10 hours/week)
October, 2014 – May 29, 2015
Under the direction of the Education Coordinator the Youth Worker will help implement and supervise recreation activities and intervention programs for the Snuneymuxw First Nation Youth Program.
Engages with 3-11 children daily (art, outside play, computers, cooking etc.)
Follows weekly youth calendar for events
Ensures safety of children and report any incidents promptly
Provides support, guidance and direction while promoting anti- bullying
Creates activities for all youth
Follows Youth Centre Protocols including completion of related forms
Ensures areas are clean and safe for children
Education and Qualification requirements:
Currently attending high school or graduated grade 12
Experience working with children and youth, and as part of a team
Ability to obtain a Criminal Record Check is mandatory
Available during the weekdays and including some weekends
Class 5 Drivers License is an asset
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
Ability to demonstrate being a positive role model
Ability to exercise good judgment, show initiative and be proactive.
High standards of ethics and confidentiality to handle sensitive information.
Strong organizational skills with proven ability to effectively prioritize work flow.
