EXTERNAL: Volunteer Opportunity - Nanaimo Science
Science in the Park!
Science in the Park are FREE drop-in science & nature explorations at local parks during the summer for families. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10am to noon, we will be at local parks in the Nanaimo area (map).
We are looking for at least one volunteer per week to help one of our staff members facilitate these pop-up activities. Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, the majority of activities will be structured for parents to pick up and tent and use with their child(ren) around the park. Once they are returned, our staff and volunteers will disinfect the activity for the next participants.
Below is a list of dates and locations where we are looking for volunteers. We have found it useful to have the same volunteer take part in all three days at the same location as it helps them better understand the activity to explain it to others. We cannot provide transportation, but we will track attendance of the volunteers and their hours, and can provide letters confirming their participation (for schools or other certification) and letters of reference for those individuals who take part in at least 3 days of volunteering.
