QQS Updates Oct 2016
Dear Parents, Guardians & Families,
Hello families! I hope all of you are doing well. We have been working hard in all of subjects here at QQS. Students work in structured programs called Readwell, Reading Mastery & Saxon Math.
Our QQS staff have been enrolled in the Professional Learning Communities through the First Nations Schools Association. We have Principal Professional Learning Communities, Teacher Professional Learning Communities and Education Assistant Professional Learning Communities. We get together and learn what the best practices are for what we are doing in our jobs at the school.
We will be doing swimming lessons as a part of our physical education program this year. Our lessons will take place at the Nanaimo Aquatic Centre from November 9th to December 7th, 2016.
Please watch for your child’s permission form being sent home soon for their swimming lessons!
With our “MYSTERY ATTENDANCE CONTEST” we are finding that approximately 85% of our students are here almost 100% of the time. We are struggling with the 15% of our students who are NOT showing up to school regularly. We are hoping that the community will help us in encouraging ALL of our students to attend school regularly. We do understand that there are exceptions, such as illness. Please watch for our new
“MYSTERY ATTENDANCE CONTEST” starting on Monday, October 31st, 2016.
Halloween is approaching quickly! We are excited to bring the children trick-or-treating around the SFN Administration building. All of our classes will be having a Halloween Party on Halloween day!
My door is always open. If you have any questions, concerns, or even some positive feedback I would love to hear it!
Have a great day!
Roxanne Harris – Principal of QQS
