QQS Updates May 2017
Great greetings to everyone! It is nice to see that the sun is shining and our days are getting longer! We are approaching summer quite quickly here!
We are so proud to have showcased our culture to the students from Gabriola Island Elementary School on May 16th & 17th, 2017. These are the stations that we ran:
Station:
Fried Bread - Lorna & Roberta
Hulquiminum Collage - Gina-Mae
Residential School/Elder - Florence James
Feather Sharing/Language - Bex & Pheonix
Paddle Necklaces - Eric Johnny
Lacrosse - Paul Good
Bone Game - Jen & Crystal
Snack - Lisa Hanuse
Storytelling - Celestine Aleck
Drumming - Patrick Aleck
Canoe - Paul Wyse-Seward
Our Grade 2/3 Teacher Lisa Rodgers has started a “Play & Learn Club” which runs after school from Tuesday to Friday from 2:30pm to 3:30pm. Students are required to pre-register for this program. So far we have 28 students registered in this AWESOME program! We are happy to have an afterschool program running at QQS!
Attendance is still a very important part of your child’s learning! Here at QQS we need every child in their seat so that we can teach them the curriculum for their grade. So please make every effort to have your child here daily.
Huy’ch’qa, (Thank You)
