QQS Updates March 2018
March has been one of the most exciting months of the year! We were busy planning and getting ready for the official ground breaking ceremony of our NEW Qwam Qwum Stuwixwulh Community School! All of our SFN members, students and staff are very excited about building our new school. We happy welcome Kinetic Construction to our team and will be very interested in watching them build our new school!
On March 16th, 2018 we had our second Parent Teacher Interview. Getting informed about how your child is doing at school is very important. We work as a TEAM to ensure that all of our students are learning at their fullest potential. We want to ensure that we are making sure that we have all of the supports in place to ensure SUCCESS for everyone! Communication is KEY! Let’s work together!
ATTENDANCE continues to be something that we are focused on! We know that if we have students in seats, then they can learn! The real magic happens when the attendance of all of our students is great, therefore ensuring that the whole class is moving forward together as a unit! The idea that nobody gets left behind! Move forward together!

Staff have been working hard to get trained to do their jobs better. Last month I reported that we all received two First Aid Certificates during our professional development day. In April we will be attending the First Nations Schools Association Conference in Richmond. This conference allows us to see what other First Nations School in the province are doing. We also get to attend workshops and learn new approaches, techniques and best practices for the jobs that we do as educators. Professional development is essential to ensure that we are offering the best teaching approaches for all of the children who attend our school. We are all on a journey, this journey is one of continuous learning for everyone!
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me or come to see me in my office at the school.
Yours in Education,
Roxanne Harris, Principal
