Health Centre Sobriety Dinner 2016
Lots to Celebrate at the Sobriety Dinner
Approximately 68 members gathered to honor family and friends demonstrating abstinence, strength, honesty, and courage striving to live a clean and sober lifestyle at the Sobriety Celebration held on November 16, 2016.
The tables were prepared with linen tablecloths and nature created center pieces with cedar completed the décor.
The emcee for the evening was Wayne Johnny with Gary Manson opening the event with a cultural prayer song, followed by the Women’s Group singing a welcome song. This was a cultural anchor to begin the evening.
Gary Manson was also our guest speaker. He shared his life story, including residential school, his own struggle with alcohol and drugs through to his journey of recovery. Gary encouraged members to continue reaching out to the resources available to support them on their journey to wellness.
The Mental Health Team acknowledged and honored a number of members, having returned from treatment, who are maintaining their sobriety. A few community members also shared their stories of sobriety and encouragement to family and loved ones living a healthy life style.
Acting Executive Director, Sandra Good, spoke words of praise and inspiration to all present.
The evening closed with Gary Manson and the Women’s Group singing the “Celebration Song”.
Members joined in the singing!
