Fourth Annual Elders Flower Garden Picnic 2015
Again our beautiful elder Audrey White asked to host the picnic. A special thanks to Heather Holland and Sandy for all your hard work in preparing the sandwiches, fruit salad and ice tea. Your back yard was beautiful.
Our baskets would not be complete without Bab’s gifts that go into the baskets: angles, frogs, fish, fairies, and all the other treasures that you so kindly collected throughout the year. Every basket had a special ornament from you. Each elder and family member was grateful for the wonderful treasures.
Thank you to Linda Borza RN, VIHA for donating all the soil.
Audrey White expressed, “Thank you for coming, you are good medicine for my heart. I love it when you come to my place and share your time with me and my family. I looked forward to this visit.”
Cathy Aleck remarked, “It was really fun there, I looked forward to this. I want to teach my grandchildren about gardening. I’m grateful. Growing your own food and planting beautiful flowers.”
Home Care Support Worker, Caroline Webster commented, “I looked forward to this day. I have never planted flowers before and I had a lot of fun learning.”
The flower gardening program brings smiles, laughter and movement. Our elders enjoy watching the flowers bloom all summer. Eighteen baskets were created and taken home.
