Clam Harvest July 2015
On June 29th the area just south of the Gabriola clam bar had been cleared by Fisheries and Oceans Canada for harvesting of butter clams.
After doing a sample test at the false narrows clam bar, on July 3 Some SFN members got the good news to go ahead and harvest clams.
Perry Point, Fisheries Coordinator, organized the harvest of butter clams from the Gabriola clam bar.
Tony White, Dave and his son Mitch White, Max Settler, George Seward, Gerry Seward and daughter Alianna were out on the beach for an awesome time. It was hard work but by the end of the tides, any complaints of sore muscles were followed with a laugh.
Peter Good, Jack Wyse and his grand daughter Payten Wyse, Terri Moreno, Ken White, Tony White, Juan Moreno and Max Settler also were on hand to process the butter clams.
Everyone had good stories and a laugh as they worked.
