Back to School 2015
Back to School BBQ
On a Nice hot sunny day The SFN Education Department hosted the annual Back to School BBQ and it was a blast.
SFN families enjoyed face painting, bouncy castles, sidewalk chalk artwork and a BBQ lunch! The Education and Health department had information tables on hand for the students and parents.
Alexander and Crew Loud Alive performed hip hop giving youth positive messages through music. Then members took time to do a circle for unity.
Good luck to all the students. We hope you work hard and have a fun successful year in academics, sports and music with your friends and family.
Thank you to those that took time to help set up.

Welcome Back from your QQS Principal
Dear Families,
As the principal of Qwam Qwum Stuwixwulh Community School, I want to welcome you to our school. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to work with the highly qualified and dedicated staff, the wonderful students, and the supportive parents.
This will be my first year as Principal of Qwam Qwum Stulwixwulh Community School, and I am thrilled at the opportunity to get to know all of you and engage in the educational process together. The elementary years are critical times of development for students and families alike, and I look forward to working with all of you to make this year successful. I am a lifelong educator who brings a firm commitment to students and families as well as a love of learning and problem solving.
Our staff is committed to working with students and their families as a team. The rigorous curriculum that we offer at QQS follows the Ministry of Education guidelines. Our goal is to see each child succeed!
Our school has identified that our “Greatest Area of Need” is our attendance. We feel that if the students are in their desks everyday, we can in turn teach the beautiful children the curriculum as we have planned.
Research shows that parental involvement in a child’s education benefits the child. These benefits are higher levels of academic achievement, positive attitudes, and greater maturity and responsibility. Because the benefits are so solid, I urge you to take part as much as possible in the life of our school. It does take an entire village to raise a child.
We welcome all our families back to another exciting, challenging year. Always contact your child’s teacher first with any concerns you may have. Please know that I am available to meet with you in person or talk to you over the telephone to discuss any concerns you may have. As the instructional leader of this school I am responsible for all decisions made in the best interest of your children. I look forward to a great year and to meeting all our children and their families.
Parents can look forward to seeing the following being sent home on Thursday, September 10th, 2015:

I would also like to let you know that we have a new Grade 6/7 Teacher, her name is Tina Walker. She comes to us with a great wealth of teaching experience. She taught at Penelakut Island Elementary School for six years. So please join me in welcoming Tina to our QQS Team!
We have also undergone a few renovations here at QQS. We have a new floor in our portable, we have a new updated kitchen and staff room eating area, the front foyer has had a facelift, we have two new front doors, new paved front porch, new bike rack, new QQS sign, two new storage sheds for our gym equipment, and new porch on the side & back of the school. We are so happy with the changes!
I always have an open door policy. So please come and see me when you get a chance! I would love to meet all of the community members, parents, friends and family! My goal is to make this year a successful one for all!
Educationally yours,
