Annual Sobriety Celebration 2015
Approximately 68 people gathered to honor family and friends who have demonstrated strength, honesty and courage while striving to live a clean and sober life.
The tables were arranged, with bright yellow, green, white, blue, and red, tablecloths.
Wayne Johnny the M.C. invited Gary Manson to open the evening with a cultural prayer song. Three members from the Women’s Wellness Group accompanied Gary. This prayer was comforting and calming to the hearts of people.
The wonderful dinner and Sobriety Celebration Cake were delicious and enjoyed by all!
Herman White, guest speaker, shared his story of sobriety from the time he was active in the addiction of alcoholism and drugs through to his journey of recovery, and encouraged those who are still struggling with addiction to reach out and ask for help from “special resources” who will be grateful to support them on their path to wellness. Herman ended his talk by sharing his greatest joy” is to go home to his beautiful wife and baby” at the closing of each day.
Throughout the evening, door prizes were presented and appreciated by all the winners.
Thank you to Phillis Scott and Wayne Johnny who worked diligently to collect a wonderful variety of door prizes from businesses throughout the City of Nanaimo.
