Annual Celebration of Life 2017
This year was the 8th Annual Celebration of Life where we gathered to remember those lost to us and to celebrate each other and our lives together. Holding life as sacred and preventing suicide was our theme.
Community members joined us for a safeTALK workshop to learn how to speak to people that they think might be thinking of suicide and how to get them to the help that they need.
Marina White, Doug White III, Wayne Johnny, Mike Bigg, Timara White, Jackie Good, Chris L. Anna Wyse, Phillis Scott and Connie Paul all received a safeTALK certificate for their training.

A BIG thank you to all of these committed community members and staff.
Sheila Malcolmson, the Member of Parliament for Nanaimo-Port Alberni, joined us for lunch which was also enjoyed by about 40 people.
Most of the attendees followed the SFN drummer to the Point where Doug White III gave an impassioned address to everyone about the harvest and feasting that once had been commonplace at the Point and was now destroyed by the lumber and previous coal industries. He directed his address to Ms. Malcolmson to save the environment for our children.
The tide received and retreated with our yellow carnations in memory of those we have lost.
It was a good day.
