POSTPONED - 79 ACRE CLAIM MEETING

Please be advised that the Trust Planning Working Group Meeting that was scheduled for 5-8 pm June 29th has been postponed. I apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused. The work and material that was/is to be provided to you have not been reviewed and finalized by Council and the working group.

They were supposed to meet to review the material and recommendations together before meeting the Membership in a Band meeting on June 29th. But due to the demonstration on June 18th and the subsequent office closure on June 23rd for community safety reasons, the meetings did not take place. It is essential that these two groups meet to finalize the information and to properly plan the next steps of the process to present to you. It is totally unfair to you the Membership to receive any important information about the 79 acre Specific Claim plans and processes that haven’t been properly completed.

I ask for your patience in this matter and assure you that we will work as hard and as fast as possible to have the information properly completed and presented to you. I cannot say enough about how important it is for everyone to work together on the future of your community. Whatever issues that you may have let us try to resolve them together in a good way, as our history and traditions have done before us. 

The working group will be meeting Chief and Council on June 29th or 30th to finalize the materials and bring them to you for your review, input and decisions if necessary. An announcement of the new Membership meeting to review the Trust Planning Working Group materials will be announced after the Council meeting Tuesday.
