Roxanne Harris

Roxanne joins Qwam Qwum Stuwixwulh Community School after many years of teaching in the local school districts.

Roxanne graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 2000 and is currently enrolled at Vancouver Island University in the Master of Educational Leadership program.

Roxanne formally taught grades 9-12 at the Stz’uminus Secondary School (formerly Stu”ate Lelum Secondary School) then was the Aboriginal Teacher at School District 68 Nanaimo-Ladysmith.  In 2012 Roxanne became Principal of Stz’uminus Secondary School, then in 2013 she became Principal of Penelakut Island Elementary School & Penelakut Island Learning Centre.

Roxanne is proud and honoured to work in the traditional territory of the Snuneymuxw First Nation as the Principal of Qwam Qwum Stuwixwulh Community School.

Roxanne’s parents are George and Sylvia Harris.  She has two daughters Jasmine and Chelsea and her spouse is Eric Johnny.  Her siblings are Daniella Harris-David, Iona Swustus and George Harris Jr. Her grandparents are the late Lawrence and Irene Harris and the late Bernard and Nora George.
