Juan was born in Seattle and moved around while growing up before finally settling permanently in Nanaimo 16 years ago. His mother is Janet “Hutch” Seward, and his grandfather is Thomas Seward.
He first started working with fish counting and working at the hatchery conducting brood stock and swim enumeration.
Juan has been working with the Nation in his current position of Fisheries and Wildlife Officer since 2008. His past and current training has been in preparation for the Fishery Security Officer certification.
Juan has been married for 15 years and has four children: Justice, Julian, Janet and Jack. Juan loves spending time hiking in the woods, exploring trails, and spending time with his sons learning to hunt.
