Notice of Nomination Meeting for Chief and Five (5) Councillors October 24, 2017

A Notice of Nomination Meeting has been mailed out to all electors who live off reserve, along with a nomination and voter declaration form. A stamped and addressed return envelope is enclosed so electors can return the nomination form.

Please make sure you sign the form in both places, and also make sure you have the form witnessed and signed by the witness. The witness can be anyone who is 18 years old or older.

Electors may also nominate candidates in person at the nomination meeting.

Candidates will need to complete the following:

· All contact information of the nominee.

· A valid criminal record check. Any nominee with a criminal conviction within the past 5 years is not eligible to hold office.

· Sign an acceptance or withdrawal form and submit it to the electoral officer within three (3) days of the nomination meeting. Candidates may drop off their signed form and criminal record check at the SFN office, PROVIDED THEY ARE IN A SEALED ENVELOPE, or scan and email the form to by the close of business on Friday, October 27, 2017.


The regular election for Chief and five (5) Councillors will be held on Saturday, December 2nd, 2017.

There will be an advance vote on Saturday, November 25th. The poll will be open from 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. on both days.

Eligible electors may vote in person or by mail. On reserve electors who will not be able to vote in person on either of these days should contact the electoral officer as soon as possible to request a mail-in ballot. Please make sure the membership clerk has your current address.

If you will be 18 years of age on or before the date of the election (December 2, 2017), and are a registered member of the Snuneymuxw Nation, you are eligible to nominate candidates, to be a candidate, and to vote in this election.
