Her efforts will be forever bountiful to the Snuneymuxw people and the legacy of her work will prove beneficial to everyone she surrounded herself with, I hope one day to inspire nations of people the way she did and pray that the creator strengthens me to walk tall like her! I was personally inspired by Chief Wyse's wisdom, warmth, and healing spirit. Doris Bonomo Viola and I shared the same birthday. (8/29) She was my older Sister by one year. We lost our parents at a very young age so she was like a Mother to me. Its like I lost my Sister, my Mother and my best friend in the whole world. Viola was the kindest most thoughtful soul and who was always there for everyone she knew. I will miss her more than words can describe. Pat Akerley I first worked with Viola in the late 1970's at the Department of Indian Affairs and over the past 30 years, Viola's patience and determination to bring her tribe forward cannot be understated. Everyone will miss you Viola! Your impact has been quite remarkable and inspires us all. Rosalie U Viola was a wonderful person, a great chief and a loving grandmother. Whenever I had occasion to talk with her she was so kind to me and my kids. All my love to her family. Snuneymuxw lost their Band Administrator, Sandra Brown, 2 years ago to cancer. I only hope that Snuneymuxw and all other First Nations communities embrace the women in their communities as strong, passionate and capable leaders.
